Water is essential for life, yet increasing population growth, rapid urbanization, and climate change are intensifying pressure on limited freshwater resources worldwide. Water scarcity poses a particularly acute challenge for arid and semi-arid regions, directly affecting economic development, environmental sustainability, food security, and public health. Building on the success of its previous two editions, the National Water and Energy Center at United Arab Emirates University is organizing the third version of the international conference “Water Resources Management and Sustainability: Solutions for Arid Regions”.
This conference aims to provide a global platform for addressing current and future water challenges through science, policy, and innovative technologies. It seeks to promote new perspectives on sustainable water management in arid and semi-arid environments and to foster collaboration among stakeholders working to advance water security. The event will bring together leading experts from academia, industry, and government to exchange knowledge, share research findings, and establish strategic partnerships in the field of water resources management. With participation from international water scientists, engineers, policymakers, and industry leaders, the 2027 edition is expected to be one of the largest gatherings of water specialists focused on arid-region sustainability.
The three-day program will feature plenary lectures, technical sessions, oral and poster presentations highlighting recent research and innovations, as well as pre-conference interactive workshops addressing emerging challenges and opportunities. The conference will also include a technology exhibition showcasing cutting-edge water solutions from the United Arab Emirates, the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries, and the international community.
The organizing committee warmly invites researchers, practitioners, policymakers, and industry representatives to participate and contribute to this important dialogue. We look forward to welcoming you in February 2027 as we work together toward advancing water and environmental sustainability in arid and semi-arid regions.
Submission Guidelines
Authors are invited to submit their abstracts/full-length papers in the main themes or other related sub-themes of the conference. Authors are required to indicate their preference for either oral or poster presentation. The Scientific Committee, however, reserves the right to make the final decision on the type of presentation. Abstracts must be written in Times New Roman; font size will be 12, single-line spaced, left aligned. Abstracts must contain title, name, affiliation, country, mailing address, email address of all authors, and designation of contact author.
Authors must use the official Template/From and cover the abstract sections detailed in the template.
Abstracts should clearly describe the research objectives, methods, findings, and relevance in a maximum of 500 words, in English (with no graphs, references, or citations). Please indicate under which theme the abstract should be included.
Submitted abstracts will be reviewed by International Scientific Committee (ISC). The review result will be delivered to submitter by e-mail individually. All accepted abstracts will be assigned to the final programme of the conference after confirming all presenters' registration and full payment.
Authors are encouraged to submit a full-length paper for review and publication in the Book Series “Water Science and Technology Library”, published by Springer. Full length papers should be submitted considering the provided template.
Students should send a valid student ID or a certification after the completion of the online registration process.
